What We Do

The foundation and driving force at Craftsmen Builders has always been ‘To do great work’. It is our belief that everything else stems from this one principle. By doing great work, our clients get the best value, the community is enriched and we’re allowed to continue doing what we love.

The foundation and driving force at Craftsmen Builders has always been ‘To do great work’. It is our belief that everything else stems from this one principle. By doing great work, our clients get the best value, the community is enriched, and we’re allowed to continue doing what we love.

So what is ‘great work’? It’s simply the practice of creating well designed, well-constructed spaces, based on uncompromising attention to detail. We strive to integrate our projects seamlessly into the existing homes, neighborhoods, and lives of our clients.

To achieve this, we manage the details and take an active role in as much of each project as possible. This means that the people designing, estimating, and managing your project are also the people digging holes, framing, and building your cabinets. For the pieces outside our expertise, we’ve established strong relationships with other industry professionals who share our same philosophy of quality craftsmanship and service.

Design

Understanding the client’s needs is an integral part of doing great work. Through our design process, we develop the best solutions for meeting those needs, by balancing budget, scale, materials, and aesthetics. With that in mind, design services are ongoing throughout a project, from architectural and spatial idea development to production of engineered construction drawings, to help to choose final material finishes.

Construction

Some projects are big. Some are small. All are unique. We enjoy doing a wide variety of construction projects, including remodels, renovations, main and second-story additions, new construction, green building, and commercial tenant finishes. All of our jobs are billed on a ‘cost plus 10%’ basis. With this structure, the client pays only for what they get, and changes are more easily accommodated during the construction process. We create an estimate of costs for the client to approve before work begins. Then, throughout the project, we track those costs. Our monthly invoices list the specific costs for materials, subcontractors, and labor as they accrue.

Woodworking

We love details. It’s the interesting nooks, trim details, and custom built-ins that give homes much of their warmth and character. Our woodworking shop allows us to create the custom cabinets, built-ins, furniture and trim perfect for each client’s unique spaces.
